PARI TAVATE

Pari Tavatee is a writer, digital creator and storyteller with a strong affinity towards literary fiction. Raised in the Middle East and India, she has been involved in multiple creative projects in film production, scriptwriting and written content. After completing her bachelor’s in journalism, she pursued her MA in Creative Writing from the Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her previous work has been used to promote UNESCO’s sister organization GoUNESCO across the globe. Her submission for PLACE 2021 was created during the first coronavirus lockdown in May 2020. Due to the travel bans worldwide, she was stranded in the UK for several weeks. After a repatriation mission by the Government of India was initiated, Pari was shortlisted by the embassy to be on the first round of rescue flights to return to her home country. She video-logged her journey and two-week mandated quarantine as a way to inform the public and remember this peculiar experience. Apart from storytelling and content creation, Pari is passionate about education and participates in many ways to help underprivileged students.
