ANDY DELANEY

Andy Delaney is an award-winning director of films, music videos and commercials. He studied Visual Communications at Goldsmiths College and began his career making music videos for Soul II Soul, Seal, The Spice Girls and the Happy Mondays amongst many others. Since then he has worked on big-budget commercials alongside small-budget films for artists, including the short film Polarbearman for Al Gore’s Live Earth project. Recently he has collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Caroline Bergvall (Ragadawn and Sonoscura), Elsa James (Forgotten Black Essex and Black Girl Essex : Here We Come, Look We Here), and Jude Kelly Studios (Dads and Daughters). In 2019, his feature film Love Is Blind - starring Chloe Sevigny, Aidan Turner and Matthew Broderick - was released in cinemas in the US and on Amazon Prime worldwide. During the lockdown in 2020 he created Alone Together, an intimate portrait of global isolation filmed in thirteen countries. Working to Andy’s technical brief and within the rules of their local lockdown (some much stricter than others) each contributor captured small vignettes of their own friends and family. These images are now set to the resonant words of Maya Angelou's ‘Alone’: a poem about loneliness and togetherness - ‘Nobody, but nobody, can make it out here alone,’ - which has been specially recorded for this project by Maya’s son, Guy Johnson.
