AMY LIPTROT

Amy Liptrot grew up on a sheep farm in the Orkney islands. Her bestselling memoir, The Outrun, won the Wainwright Prize for nature writing and the PEN Ackerely Prize for memoir. She lives in West Yorkshire. As the mother of a toddler with another baby on the way, she has recently become interested in - and has been reading books on - child development and in particular kids' relationship with the natural world. Some ideas in Kith by Jay Griffith particularly struck her and were the starting point for her submission for PLACE 2020, which is about her household's experience of the COVID-19 lockdown.
