C.C. O’HANLON

C.C. O’Hanlon describes himself as ‘a jaded traveller, occasional diarist, and ancient sea punk’. Born in Australia, he has lived nearly everywhere else — often aboard small boats, which he has sailed all over the North Atlantic and Mediterranean and along the Pacific coasts of the USA and Mexico. The sea is central to C.C.’s writing, which has been published widely, but he avoids the repetitious tropes of the ‘sea story’ to focus on the ocean and coastal environments themselves. Shallows is a brief example, drawn from his own experience of navigating the salt marshes and shoal waters of the east coast of England in an aged timber dinghy.
